Gilbert Arenas is arguably the most accessible player in the NBA. He loves his fans and is a people person. For all his eccentricities and proclamations, he would be the most relatable player in the league. He is insecure about his place in the pro-hoops world, sometimes feeling
like he doesn’t belong. Agent Zero is both infuriating and endearing.
Arenas could easily be your best friend. In fact becoming Hibachi’s mate is easier than you may think. Just contact him on his MySpace page! Ask Washington D.C. high school student, Garrett Scanlon if you don’t believe me.
Scanlon and Arenas met in 2006 when the high school student heard about Gil’s Black President MySpace page. Seeing the pics of his kids and friends, Garrett took a shot in the dark and thought it might be the craziest cat in the Association.
Creating his own MySpace page, Garrett contacted the Washington Wizard All-Star, with the player reciprocating. Naturally, the teenager still didn’t believe that the person he was corresponding with was Hibachi, asking if they could perhaps meet in person. Sure, was the response.
During his summer workouts at the Wizards facility, Arenas instructed Garrett to meet him at the Verizon Center, go to the security office and ask for Gil. Garrett did as was instructed, still thinking it was a put on. Upon arriving at the offices, security weren’t informed, thus, not letting the teenager through.
"They didn't believe me," he said. "The people at security had no idea. I was kind of weirded out." (Steinberg, Washington Post, 2008)
Going back home and unsuccessful in his attempts to meet Arenas, Scanlon contacted the player and told him what had happened. Agent Zero assured him he’d get things straightened out. Sure enough, two days later when Garrett went back, he was escorted inside by the same security personnel that shut him out two days earlier. They played video games and hung out, with Arenas giving the youngster his jersey and new Adidas’ kicks that weren’t even released to the public yet.
Gil also managed to hook his new friend up as a Wizards ball boy, and is now assisting him with his rehabilitation efforts.
So, there you have it. That chick that you have been communicating with that says she is Jessica Alba might really be the foxy actress.
