Marquee Players Tear It Up
November 6th 2008 14:24
It's the first time this season that we have multiple big-time single game performances from NBA stars. Let's take a look on how they glittered.
Tony Parker (guard, San Antonio Spurs): 55 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds
Tim Duncan (center, San Antonio Spurs): 30 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block
Roger Mason (guard, San Antonio Spurs): 26 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists
The Spurs started off 0-3 this season. This one is certainly unexpected considering that they are perennial contenders and are very unlikely to be in this present state. Manu Ginobili's absence is very much crucial for San Antonio that is currently generating tremendous numbers from Tony Parker and Tim Duncan just to stem the tide.
Finally, the Spurs snapped that 3-game losing streak of theirs as they beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in double overtime 129-125. Parker, who's had it with losing, played like a Frenchman possessed in coming up with his monster numbers. Duncan also had a big game himself and Mason, a free agent signee last off-season stepped up very well.

Amare Stoudemire (forward, Phoenix Suns): 49 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks.
Stan is the man in Phoenix! Looking at the amount of minutes that he's been playing and the numbers that he's been turning up this early, this will certainly be another All-Star caliber year for him. Playing full-time at power forward certainly makes him all the more potent to dominate in every Suns game.
After a quite sluggish start, the Suns are now at 4-1, just half a game behind the Pacific division leading Lakers. Slowly but surely, Phoenix is making that steady transition from the Mike D'Antoni fast-paced system to the more systematic Terry Porter approach. It's still early to say that the Suns will soon topple the Lakers at the top of the West but they are making very satisfactory progress.
Stoudemire's game will be one of the important factors that will determine their success this season that's why he's got to stay healthy and be in the right situations like where he is right now.

Lebron James (forward, Cleveland Cavaliers): 41 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals
Up until now the Cavs has yet to establish any momentum to truly get themselves ready for a serious run at an NBA championship. Perhaps this Lebron James outburst can kick everything off to high gear.
James was an unstoppable whirling dervish as he raided the Bulls defense with his offensive domination. He wasn't really like that before the game.
We still expect Cleveland to compete with the other elite Eastern Conference teams. James is just starting to take off while his other teammates are doing their own kind of damage notably Mo Williams (at the point) and Ben Wallace (beast-like rebounding).

Dwyane Wade (guard, Miami Heat): 29 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals, and 3 blocks.\
Richard Jefferson (forward, Milwaukee Bucks): 32 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.
Kevin Martin (guard, Sacramento Kings): 33 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 rebound.
