NBA Loud - by Rick Gillispie

The US Kill the Chinese (In a Basketball Game)

August 8th 2006 10:49
In another lead up game before the basketball world championships the USA routed China 119-73. The Chinese were without superstar centre Yao Ming, which basically meant the men in red had no chance.

Yao was out with a foot injury so the Dream Team decided to kick the asses of the Chinese mercilessly. LeBron James led the way with 22 points, while his

partner in crime Carmelo Anthony dropped 18 points.

The Americans were keyed up and went on a scoring binge for the second straight game after beating Puerto Rico by 45 points in their previous game. The US looks to be in ominous form.

China actually got off to a very nice start trailing the US by only five points after the first quarter – that is as close as it got, as the US ran riot. The margin was increased to 23 points by the end of the second quarter, and 40 points by the end of the third.

The Chinese were without their two best NBA calibre players with Wang Zhizhi who plays for Miami, out with a knee injury. China was overmatched physically and talent-wise.

Players from the US exhibited extremely tight defence, while making the Chinese look exceptionally second rate.

Can you just hear the chant of U-S-A reverberating throughout the world? The Dream Team are all business and the rest of the world had better watch out.

it would have been interesting to see how close with Yao and the other guy playing...

i don't think he would have helped much. the americans probably would have double and tripled team yao forcing him to give it up to his less talented teammates and making them beat the u.s. the scoreline may have been a little bit one sided, but not much.
