NBA Loud - by Rick Gillispie

The Lakers Win in the Craziest Way Possible.

Are the LA Lakers the best team in the league? Former NBA sharpshooter Steve Kerr in his column for Yahoo! Sports wrote that he felt the team from La

La Land were the team playing the best ball right now. For many fans and observers this may be a bit of a stretch but today’s game against the Houston Rockets went a long way in confirming Kerr’s assertions might not be that crazy.

The Lake Show won 102-94.

Although the Lakers won they made it heavy going because with 9:45 left in the game and Los Angeles leading by 27 points, Kobe was on the bench icing his knees and the most glamorous team in the league looked like they were on the verge of an easy victory.

Talk about counting your chickens before they hatched. The Rockets came back with a vengeance.

LA after killing the Rockets by 27 up to that point failed to score a single field goal until the final minute of the game, with Houston just two points behind. Coach Phil Jackson had to summon Kobe back off the bench to stem the damage in a game they should have wrapped up long before the final minute.

Needless to say this was one of the weirdest games in NBA history but the result confirms that the Lakers are for real.

Meanwhile Denver went into Hot-lanta and beat the Joe Johnson-less Hawks, 100-87. Earl Boykins the smallest guy in the league sparked a 17-1 run that laid the foundations for a Nuggets victory.

It was Carmelo Anthony as per usual who was the star that shone the brightest for the Nuggets with 26 points, five boards and four dimes. Melo was the man, while Boykins was the catalyst, using his lightning speed to full effect.

Atlanta sure must be missing Joe Johnson.

Let’s give it up for Andrew Bogut who had a very good game with 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists, but it was his final minute free throws that iced the game for Milwaukee, 94-93.

The Bucks also got a big hand from Michael Redd who dropped 22 points, with Ruben Patterson scoring a further 21. However, it was all about Bogie who scored the winning baskets.

Golden State has been hit with serious injuries and was reduced to a six man rotation, which didn’t matter one iota because they still managed to beat the Sacramento Kings, 126-113.

Matt Barnes for the Warriors set career highs with 32 points and 11 rebounds, while the surprising Andris Biedrins added 20 points and 14 boards. Baron Davis was also electric for the team from the Bay Area with 14 points, 13 dimes and six boards.

We’ve ended up with this sentiment before in an entry – B. Dizzle fo’ shizzle.
