NBA Loud - by Rick Gillispie

Suns Beat Mavs in Game 1 in the West.

May 25th 2006 08:49
Steve Nash and the Suns have proven the doubters wrong by winning the first game of the Western Conference Finals – 121-118. Please, allow this writer to get a few things off his chest before going into an in-depth reportage of this game. What on earth are you thinking ESPN Australia?

For the second year in a row you are showing only the Eastern Conference Final and skipping the western one. What is the deal with that? Again the battle out west is for more entertaining than the one in the east, but nooooo – only the Eastern Conference is shown! A hex on both your houses I say!

Well, with that over and done with onto the game, which was an absolute peach of a contest. Boris Diaw, the most improved player for this season scored 34 points to lead the Suns in scoring, while the MVP scored 10 of his 27 points in the final 3:26 minutes of the game. You da man Nash!

Dallas pimp and pornstar, Dirk Diggler had 25 points and 19 rebounds, but the Mavs blew a potential game winning lead with some poor turnovers and slack defence. Letting the Suns have their way offensively and not having any stops would result in death for every team in the league.

Shawn Marion also stepped up big for Phoenix with a 24 point, 13 rebound effort but may be a little less effective in game 2 with a possible ankle injury. In fact both teams have injury concerns for starters with Raja Bell and Josh Howard carrying leg injuries.

A short and sweet entry which is always a blessing since you my dear reader aren’t exposed anymore to my poor prose. On a final note all I want to say is go Australia tonight against those Greeks in the football. I could finish off with that stupid Australian sporting chant but NBALOUD is a classy forum for discussion and analysis. No, lowbrow stuff here!

No, Cibby I don't have a chant. I was referring to the crap Aussie, Aussie, Aussie. Oi! Oi! Oi! one. Makes me shudder typing out those words.
