Steve Nash is the MVP for the 2005-2006 NBA Season
April 10th 2006 03:18
Sitting here at the law library at UNSW amongst students who I actively despise my one and only solace is typing out this article about the NBA. It is my cathartic release of sorts but I actually don’t know what I am about to write really. Random musings I suppose. My hope is that by typing out more and more words some coherent thought may come out and something worthy of an article might appear, so you dear reader aren’t having your precious time wasted by some inane ranting of a complete lunatic!
I suppose it is that time of the year again where the playoffs are about to occur and the individual awards are starting to be discussed in the net-sphere. Oh, an aside – this is a bloody computer lab in the library why the hell are you ‘Miss Behind Me’ talking on your mobile? Turn that thing off!
Anyway, where was I? Oh, yeah, individual award season. The most important individual award in the NBA is of course the NBA Player with the highest ‘scores’ outside of the basketball court – just kidding – it is of course the MVP.
Last year the MVP award was given to a small White guy. This has not occurred since the Earth was seen as flat by the majority of the world’s population, and that procreating with ones cousin was considered socially acceptable behaviour. I love Steve Nash and the way the Suns play ball, but in all honesty I didn’t think he was the MVP last year. However, I do think he is the MVP this year and he has backed it up this season with immense style. The fact that Amare Stoudemire has been injured for practically the whole season while the Suns are playing playoff ball is a testament to how valuable the little, floppy haired Canadian is to his team.
Nash has upped his scoring to a career best 19.3 points per game, while still leading the league in assists with 10.4 dimes per game. He has turned Shawn Marion into an All-Star (he always was one in my opinion), while making basketball Suns style a very attractive visual spectacle.
Therefore, my vote goes to Steve Nash for MVP! Say it again, “Steve Nash for MVP”. Now all the ladies in the back shout it out, “Steve Nash for MVP”. I guess it’s unanimous: Steve Nash for MVP!

ok so any white guy who can make a load of average players play like great players definately deserves the nod!!! did i mention he's white as well!!!
BUT....
in their last 10 games, theyre 5 and 5. if this slump continues then you gotta think it diminishes the chances of the Canadian getting the nod 2 years in a row.
so who else COULD get the mvp....
Lebron James....teams first trip to the post season in many years. averaging more then 30, 5, 5
Elton Brand...who knew the Clippers could win games
Dirk Nowitzki...chasing San Antonio as we speak for top spot
Chauncy Billups...leading the best team in the East
stan, if the suns continue to falter, i think the above guys have a great chance to snare that MVP award. but in saying so, im sure they all equally deserve recogniton
