In honour of the World Championship MVP today’s post is going to be all about one Penny Taylor who has proven her ass kicking basketball credentials with an incredible tournament.

Ms. Penny Taylor like all other Australian basketball players both male and female has been overshadowed by considerable presence of one Lauren Jackson who has dominated the basketball landscape here in the merry Land of Oz since she broke through as a teenager. Not even Andrew Bogut would be as well known as Miss. Action Jackson.
However, the World Championships that has recently been concluded will go a long way in establishing her place amongst the elite in female basketball.
Penny Taylor started off her professional basketball life here in Australia playing in the WNBL for the Dandenong Rangers during the years of 1998-2002. It was her stint here in Australia that lay the foundations for the dominating presence we have seen in Brazil of late.
While playing for Dandenong, Taylor averaged a very impressive 25.5 points, complimented with 2.1 steals per game. The cherry on top was when she was named league MVP in her final season for the Dandenong Rangers.
Taylor has been a fixture on the Opals squad since 1998 but it has only been recently that she has become a bona fide star.
One endearing quirk that she has according to her official bio on the WNBA site is that she likes to wear her socks inside out. This little ritual places her on par for favouritism status on these pages because NBALOUD shares the same penchant for wearing good ol’ socks inside out. What a legend!
In some of her post-tournament comments Taylor had stated that an World Championship gold has been something she had been striving for since the age of four when she first started playing the game. The tournament MVP was the cherry on top
Congrats Penny and the rest of the Opals squad for your great achievements. Now if only the men can repeat that feat.
