NBA Preseason Game Reports.
October 16th 2006 08:05
NBALOUD would like to extend its apologies to all of the hardcore basketball fans out there who have wanted the scores from the preseason of the NBA. Yes, we’ve been neglecting our duty of providing comprehensive coverage of the league and as a sign of our penance NBALOUD will go to uni and ask all the attractive female students for a thorough spanking! This won’t be enjoyed because it’s “punishment”.
So, without further, Apu, here are the scores and “comprehensive” coverage of today’s preseason games.
Before going into a deep analysis it should be noted that preseason is more geared towards rookies, players that are vying for a roster spot, ballers returning from injuries and assorted scrubs that are living their NBA dreams.
In the first game the Toronto Raptors downed the New Jersey Nets 119-110 in a contest that was most notable for a power failure in the Toronto area. The game was able to continue on but with dimmed lighting.
Vince Carter scored 10 points, while Jason Kidd had eight points and seven dimes (assists) for the Nets. Toronto got a super effort from T.J. Ford who had 10 points and 11 dimes.
Australian readers may be interested in the second game with the Chicago Bulls who defeated the Seattle Supersonics 110-105 in overtime. Why the hell would Aussies be interested in this game? Well Australia’s own Luke Schensher played a part in da Bulls victory by dropping 10 useful points. Can I get an Aussie, Aussie, Aussie?
Schensher’s effort was so super that he and fellow Bull Andre Barrett were the only two scorers for Chicago during the overtime period.
Readers who want stars will be sated with the game involving the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers because all of the Suns stars played a major role in their 99-91 victory. The star attraction for Phoenix was of course the play of superstar Amare Stoudemire who had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Suns. Coming off a devastating knee injury last season the play of Amare should give the team from the valley of the sun much cause for optimism.
The Lake show was without Kobe Bryant who is still recovering from offseason knee surgery.
In the final game today ghetto thug Stephen Jackson suited up for the Indiana Pacers in their 97-84 loss to the Utah Jazz. Action Jackson was quoted as saying that he was happy to just be playing in a basketball game again – a contest in which he scored six points.
Perhaps the most notable occurrence in this game was the lack of a brawl or gun shots from Pacers players – just kidding. The game was in Indiana but Jackson copped a lot of boos from the hometown crowed. Perhaps they were saying “Boo-urns”. Any Simpsons fans out there would be familiar with that joke.
