Mavs and Cavs Win Today in the NBA.

What looked like an easy series for Detroit has suddenly turned into a battle to the death. The Cleveland Cavaliers today tied the series at 2-2 with a 74-72 victory over the much vaunted Pistons. In a blink of an eye LeBron and Co. have made the Pistons look extremely vulnerable. On the other hand the
Dallas Mavericks have chalked up a 123-118 win over the San Antonio Spurs in OT. The men from the big ‘D’ are one win away from eliminating the defending champions. Now, I’m no farmer but I think it would be safe for me to count the unhatched chicks!
Rasheed Wallace promised another Pistons victory and in the past his exhortations have led to triumph, but not this time around. Cleveland got balanced contributions from their line-up, whilst playing Piston like defence. King James netted 22 points, including the game winning free throws with two seconds left. Who said he wasn’t clutch?
So, the question that naturally is going to be asked: ‘Are you still sticking with the Pistons?’ Of course I am because I am a man of convictions (not the criminal kind either) and the type of person who asserts a belief and backs it
to the hilt. Although, I might add without being too proud, for if someone else has a better suggestion I am more than willing to take it up.
The Pistons can take these words from the immortal Malcolm X to heart: “If there is no struggle, there is no progress.” Word!
In Texas meanwhile the Mavericks are travelling on the cusp of the abyss. What is it that I mean with that statement? They are about to rock and roll all over the Spurs!
This series has seen the emergence of a dangerous backcourt duo for the Mavs with Jason Terry and Devin Harris, combining to form a deadly one-two punch in the guard positions. Jason Terry hit a couple of big shots in regulation, while Dirk Nowitzki, everyone’s favourite German hit the regulation tying free throws to send the game into extra time. The Kaiser Chief shook off his bum ankle to score 28 points.
The Spurs got monster contributions from Tony Parker who dropped 33 points, while Tim Duncan had 31 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and three blocks. What I love most about these statistics is the fact that San Antonio got big games from their two stars but still fell short! It could be argued that I am suffering from a severe case of Schaudenfreud in celebrating the possible demise of the Spurs. However, do you know what my response to that assertion is? Guilty as OJ!
Well, that does it for another NBA wrap. Please, make donations to the Stanley Legal Fund because I am sure all the people I am slagging off here in this site will eventually come back to bite me in the buttocks!

Detroit are going to have to take any means necessary to win their series now. Just like Malcolm X. (Image from Wikipedia)
