Allen Iverson and Gilbert Arenas Bring Joy to NBA Basketball.

“The horror…the horror…” Colonel Kurtz famously uttered at the end of Apocalypse Now, which appropriately enough described the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers game. Indiana came away with the victory, 81-76, but it was one of the most dire contests anyone can ever witness.
NBALOUD has talked continuously about how fun the league is now to watch but the Rockets/Pacers game was a throwback to the days when watching basketball was about as enjoyable as going to the dentist. Turnovers, poor shot selection and just a woeful basketball spectacle overall made this writer tear his precious hair out in utter frustration.
It wasn’t all bad though with Tracy McGrady returning to the Rockets and having a sound game, even though he obviously isn’t basketball fit. T-Mac finished with 19 points and with all things considered, it was a fair performance.
Fans of the Rockets the world over must be waiting in anticipation for the return of Yao because Houston looked lost without their big man in the middle. Houston usually works the ball inside, than out, with Yao either scoring or kicking it out to an open man – without their anchor they were stranded at sea.
It was unfortunate for Australian viewers that the aforementioned Rockets/Pacers game was shown on television here because any other game would have provided fantastic entertainment, such as Washington versus Memphis.
This game quite simply belonged to Gilbert Arenas aka Agent Zero, who has firmly established himself as one of the premier scorers in the league, on par with Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony. Arenas can kill you in a variety of ways – outside, inside, over, under and when he feels like it, by passing the ball, whilst involving his teammates.
Want to know how hot Agent Zero has been over the past 10 games? Try a scoring average of 37.7 points!
Washington came out of the gates in smoking hot form scoring 45 points in the first quarter! Say what? You read it correctly, 45 points! Needless to say the Wizards easily accounted for the Grizzlies to the tune of 116-101.
Agent Zero scored 31 at a very efficient rate – taking only 13 shots. Caron Butler on the other hand had the nicest play of the game when he posterised a hapless defender with a monster jam.
Phoenix returned to the winning ledger when they beat the Portland Trailblazers, 110-87. The star for the sharp shooting Suns was Leandro Barbosa, otherwise known as the “Brazilian Blur” because of his dazzling speed which was shown to full effect in this game.
Barbosa scored 20 points during a 6:21 time span that was a dazzling display of offensive firepower. The Brazilian Blur tore up the Portland Trailblazers to such an extent that they were never going to recover. Leandro was ably assisted by Shawn Marion who led the Suns with 23 points and eight rebounds.
We end today’s posting with news that Allen Iverson has broken his cherry – no, not that one because Bubba Chuck has been widely acknowledged as a stud between the sheets. Rather, it was his first win in a Denver uniform when they beat the hopeless Boston Celtics, 116-105.
AI was the epitome of a talented and generous teammate scoring 28 points and dishing off 13 assists with panache! The Answer teamed up with Earl Boykins to form a midget backcourt that ripped the Celts to shreds. Boykins also scored 28 points.
Want to know how much of a team player Iverson is right now with the Nuggets? Try this for a quote: “Earl and I are just playing good together," Iverson said. "I just wanted to make it easy for him and make it easier for everybody.” (Graham, AP, 2006)

Maybe AI was referred as Bubba Chuck because he wanted to leave the Sixers too? Let's face it...they are not a 'high caliber' team like the Suns.

DS - usually i have a tendency to make up nicknames eg. the big sauerkraut for dirk etc but i can't claim bubba chuck. that distinction goes to carmen bryan who wrote a tell all sex book with one of her conquests being allen iverson, who she bestowed the hilarious nickname of bubba chuck.
of course i wrote about this book with excerpts if you're interested you can click here
with gilbert arenas and agent zero that's what his teammates in washington call him.
oblivion - welcome, mate! thanks for the comment and yes he wasn't happy in philly. he actually according to all reports loved the city and wanted to stay there and finish off his career but sixers management are as dense as they come in trying to build a team.
he understandably was frustrated about this situation and there are a lot of things wrong with bubba chuck but his desire to win cannot be questioned.
